Our Client:

We are a purpose-driven charity delivering meaningful impact across communities through high-quality services, advocacy, and partnership working. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide strong financial leadership and support a programme of business process and reporting improvement.

The Role:

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board and senior leadership team, the Interim Finance Director will lead the finance function through a period of transformation and operational enhancement.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can quickly assess current systems and processes, strengthen financial controls, improve management information, and support strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the organisation and senior management team.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring high performance and strong stakeholder support.
  • Review and improve financial processes, controls, and governance arrangements.
  • Enhance management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI visibility.
  • Deliver improvements to financial reporting accuracy, timeliness, and insight.
  • Support organisational planning, cash flow management, and scenario modelling.
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve commercial and financial understanding.
  • Prepare board-level reporting and support Audit & Finance Committee requirements.
  • Oversee year-end processes and liaise with external auditors where required.
  • Identify opportunities for systems improvement and finance automation.

About You:

We are looking for a credible and collaborative finance leader with a track record of delivering change within complex organisations, ideally in the charity or not-for-profit sector.

You will bring:

  • Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant senior finance leadership experience, including operating at Finance Director level.
  • Proven experience improving finance processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading teams through change and transformation.
  • The ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in an interim environment.
  • Knowledge of charity finance and SORP reporting is desirable.
