We are working with an established and growing construction and development business in Swansea who are looking to appoint a Financial Controller to work closely with the Finance Director and wider senior management team.
This is a broad and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of financial reporting, project accounting, cash flow and financial controls, whilst also providing valuable commercial insight to the wider business.
The Role:
As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial control and reporting across the company's construction and development activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements.
- Monitoring project costs, margins and stage completions.
- Maintaining and updating project viability and development forecasts.
- Managing cash flow forecasting across multiple projects.
- Supporting funding and covenant reporting.
- Overseeing VAT, CIS and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Coordinating year-end audits and managing relationships with external auditors.
- Improving financial controls, systems and processes.
- Providing financial input into tenders, feasibility studies and investment appraisals.
- Working closely with commercial, operations and purchasing teams to improve business performance.
About You:
You will ideally be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or a finalist, although relevant experience will be considered.
Most importantly, you will have a strong technical accounting background combined with commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.
Experience within construction, property development, real estate or a project-based environment would be highly advantageous.
You will also need strong Excel and systems skills, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business.
