Finance Director

Our Client:

We are seeking a Senior Financial Controller / Finance Director to lead the Finance team of a private equity backed manufacturing business based in Swansea.

A profitable and cash generative business continues to develop new products, new sectors and internationally. 

We require a Finance leader and business partner to the Managing Director.

You will become part of a four strong Senior Management Team which includes experienced Heads of Sales and Operations.

The Role:

The Head of Finance will lead and develop a team of 3 and will be responsible for:

• Financial, HR, Legal and IT matters within the business.
• Stakeholder Management – external auditors, bank, insurance brokers, shareholders, supplier relationships.
• Monthly preparation and presentation of financial and business performance to MD, Investors and board members.
• Providing commercial insights into the business results and future growth plans, through various initiatives.
• Ownership of the accounting policies, including training the broader finance team.
• Financial reporting processes and internal controls.
• Control of the budgeting and forecasting process.
• Being a proactive member of the senior management team to drive operational efficiencies and growth through creative commercial solutions.
• The detailed management of the business cashflow.

Skill sets required:

• A strong communicator and a leader of people.
• Cashflow management.
• Proactive System improvement approach.
• Experience of dealing with external bodies experience including Auditors, HMRC, Banks and Pension providers.
• Ability to work with the senior leaders to streamline the cost base.
• Attention to detail with the ability to also look at the “bigger picture”
• Ability to create a ROI on investments.
• Understanding on ERP / MRP IT systems including BOM’s.
• Ability to generate ongoing business financial forecasts / budgets.
• Confidence to challenge the status quo.
• Ability to lead and develop a team.

About You:

• CIMA or ACCA qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience ideally in the manufacturing or retail sector.
• Demonstrate the ability to work within a privately equity owned SME.
• ERP/ MRP experience, preferably Winman.
• Ability to work independently and proactively under pressure.
• Commercial knowledge to improve the business profitability.
• Strong influencing and communication / interpersonal skills.
• Positive problem solving and flexible approach.
• Results Driven and self-motivated individual.
• Able to demonstrate strong analytical and decision-making skills.
